Purchasing Hardware

Knowing what to buy depends on the holographic experiences you intend to create. Here are some examples of how we’ve seen customers use photorealistic holograms to create incredible experiences:

  • Present to a large audience (i.e. town hall, university lecture)
  • Collaborate as a small team (i.e. design reviews, brainstorm)
  • Provide help to a remote customer (i.e. product assembly, repair machinery, concierge)
  • This list is only an example, iIf you have another scenario in mind, let us know at info@formavision.io!

Let’s go through what we might recommend hardware-wise for specific scenario above:

Present to a large audience

Description: In this scenario you’d like to appear as your authentic self to a crowd. It’s important that you are photorealistic and not an avatar because you want to build trust with the audience and make them feel like they are talking to the real you(not a cartoon avatar). Your audience will be joining the live session from a variety of devices such as mobile phones, virtual reality headsets, and augmented reality headsets.

Hologram type: full height hologram

Camera setup: 6x cameras attached to tripods, a truss system, or mobile studio columns

Computer: Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC with at least a Nvidia 3080 GPU, 32GB of RAM, and high performance Intel or AMD CPU

Collaborate as a small team

Description: In this scenario you’d like to feel like everyone on the team is in the same physical space. It’s important that everyone can participate equally, regardless of who is physically in the office or not. With everyone authentically and spatially present in the meeting, you’ll really be able to ‘read’ the room to intuitively know how others are responding to your ideas.

Hologram type: torso or full body

Camera setup: 2x cameras attached to desk mounted camera stands

Computer: Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC with at least a Nvidia 1080 GPU and 32GB of RAM

Provide help to a remote customer

Description: In this scenario you want to provide your customer quick and easy to understand instructions to solve a spatial problem together (i.e. product assembly, machinery repair). By appearing as a life size hologram on your remote customer’s augmented reality device (HMD or mobile) you can gesture to points of interest in your customer’s environment as if you’re both in the same space together.

Hologram type: torso or full height

Camera setup: 2-6x cameras

Computer: Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC with at least a Nvidia 1080 GPU and 32GB of RAM
